I grew up watching my mom crochet. I used to try to copy her, but I never could figure out how to hold the hook, even after she showed me numerous times. I think I gave up on trying to learn when I was about 12, just chalking it up to 'there's another thing I would love to do but can't because I'm left handed.'
I put crocheting out of my mind until I was about 22, when I met my good friend, Lori. Lori was about ten years older than me and she would take her crocheting everywhere with her. One day while I was watching her, with a little envy, I realized she was using her LEFT hand!!! I jumped at the chance to ask her how she could crochet left handed. She handed me a hook and showed me how to hold it and how to do a basic chain and I was literally hooked!!!
It's been ten years now and I still tell people crocheting is my favorite hobby. I just love creating beautiful gifts for friends and family. Now, I'm at the point in my life where I want to do more than just make things for my loved ones, I want to make them for others as well, and I want to reach people that have the same passion for crocheting that I do and help them better their craft while I'm doing the same thing.
